MajorDuties
- Provide technical and administrative supervision of a professional, technical, and administrative work force to carry out the mission of the Arctic District Office.
- Responsible for programming and annual budgeting submissions and ensures program accomplishments are within budget allocations.
- Make resource management decisions on energy and minerals management; oil and gas inspections and permitting; lands and realty operations; and recreation.
- Develop solutions for non renewable resource issues posing special difficulty.
- Provide input to the preparation, implementation and conformance of land use plans, interdisciplinary activity plans, and ecosystem plans.
Qualifications
Basic Education Requirement: Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Specialized Experience Requirements: In addition to the basic education requirement, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be creditable, this experience must have been for 1 year and equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. (If the position was seasonal, your resume must show periods worked. You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience is: experience with land and/or resource management programs requiring multiple-use management and protection of a variety of resources and interacting with all levels of the agency; accomplishing work through others, e.g., project manager, team or project lead, etc.; experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships to achieve goals and objectives; in conducting oral briefings and presentations; in preparing reports which identify, analyze and integrate diverse data, present findings and conclusions, and provide alternatives and/or recommendations (reports often weigh and balance diverse opinions with agency requirements and resource needs); in making clear, well-reasoned decisions balancing diverse opinions; experience with natural, physical and social sciences as applied to public land management decision making; and providing leadership and supervision to a diverse staff of employees.
Pay Range
$85,799.00 - $111,543.00
