Job Summary
This position is located at the National Geospatial Center of Excellence (NGCE) on the Geospatial Governance Branch, NRCS, in Fort Worth, Texas. This position serves as the subject matter expert for remote sensing technology and remote sensing related imagery. The incumbent is responsible for collecting user requirements for remote sensing applications, designing specific programs and procedures and ensuring that they are implemented correctly.
Major Duties
- Serves as the agency subject matter expert on remote sensing, providing technical support and reviews for NRCS on geospatial applications, standards, procedures, and policy.
- Drafts and reviews national communications and develops appropriate materials for transferring remote sensing technology.
- Responsible for coordinating the testing of remote sensing techniques on new or adapted applications.
- Drafts or responds to sensitive documents, reviews and drafts recommended Department responses, and prepares technical responses to congressional inquiries.
Qualifications
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No Award or General Adjustment SF-50's will be accepted). Time-in-grade requirements also apply to VEOA applicants having held a GS position in the past year. See addition information. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the 12/17/2019 the of the announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science- such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience--education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying: GS-13 Specialized Experience: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties: Draft and review national communications and develop appropriate materials for transferring remote sensing technology; Train staff in implementation of remote sensing and remote sensing related imagery; Provide technical leadership with implementation and coordination of remote sensing related tools or materials; and Work with leadership to support the information requirements and decision making process related to remote sensing technology. Pay Range
$95,253.00 - $123,826.00
