Major Duties

The incumbent is expected to perform technical and non-technical duties associated with the operational support of NIST Standard Reference Materials (SRMs) and ensure the Office of Reference Materials meets the requirements for conformance with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standard. The incumbent is expected to perform the following duties:

  • Perform quality assurance checks and product inspections to confirm the efficacy of ORM processes and systems and ensure quality and the utmost in customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct a scientific review of documentation (certificates, Safety Data Sheets, and product labels) to ensure issues have been resolved and corrections made prior to releasing a restricted NIST SRM for sale.
  • Lead the process to review and finalize NIST SRM product and component titles to adhere to proper scientific guidelines and naming conventions.
  • Write technical notifications to communicate corrections and updates for NIST SRMs to purchasers and users.
  • Implement and maintain a formal quality system through quality document updates, and internal audits.
  • Investigate and analyze quality issues; recommend suggestions that prevent future similar quality events; and identify opportunities to redesign and improve processes and procedures.
  • Use tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and Microsoft Excel to edit and format documentation and Microsoft SharePoint for document management.



Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level (or ZP-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience applying International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standard to participate in the review process of scientific documentation.

Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree

OR

3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree

A combination of higher-level graduate education and experience Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Pay Range

$69,581.00 - $108,422.00
