Major Duties

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: NGA Research seeks a technically-talented, energetic and creative R&D; professional for a position on the Research Labs Support Team, in Dayton, Ohio. The person supports R&D; systems in the Research Lab Environment. Duties include: IT acquisition recommendations; facilitate customer engagement with existing IT offerings; and development and direct execution of customer IT requirements. This position may also require a person functioning as a hands-on technical solution developer. The Research R&D; Labs encourages innovation, discovery, collaboration and continual learning. The desire is to grow and contribute to the Research and NGA mission as a whole is essential. Supervision of the individual will generally be administrative in nature, and he or she is expected to carry out assignments independently.

Qualifications

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Online resumes must demonstrate qualification by providing specific examples and associated results, in response to the announcement's mandatory criteria specified in this vacancy announcement: 1. Experience in enterprise architectures and/or service-oriented/micro/macro-services (including but not limited to include physical, virtual, and cloud computing frameworks and technology).

2. Experience in high performance computing, and/or graphics processing units for complex computational utility. 3. Ability to complete R&D IT architectures and/or project/program deliverables. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline that includes 24 semester (36 quarter) hours in Mathematics, Science and/or a related Engineering Science such as Dynamics, Electronics, Mechanics, and Properties of Materials. Such coursework includes, but is not limited to, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Programming, Data Mining, Cybersecurity, Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, or Statistics. Although not mandatory, coursework in differential and integral calculus is preferred. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework as listed in option A, plus experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals to 4 years.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. IT systems knowledge, including Linux, MS Windows Services, VMWare, and cloud computing frameworks.

2. Experience implementing, documenting, and supporting developmental environments, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, environments.

3. Extensive computer science and systems background including distributed systems, operating systems, networking, databases, virtualization and heterogeneous environments.

4. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to provide cloud operations including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and provide best practices throughout the lifecycle of a project. 5. Ability to identify, gather and communicate requirements to define a solution to be built and operated on AWS.

6. Ability to communicate verbally or through written presentations and briefings.

7. Ability to apply critical thinking to complex problem identification, analysis and resolution.

8. Demonstrate the ability to create positive peer relationships in pursuit of mission requirements.

Pay Range

$65,792.00 - $121,906.00
