Job Summary

Are you an experienced Research Biologist looking for a rewarding and challenging position? We are currently recruiting for two positions in the Biological Testing Branch (BTB).

Major Duties

  • Independently direct and implement applied scientific investigation in the area of evaluation of candidate drugs emanating from anti­cancer projects.
  • Plan and execute experiments to determine the mechanism of action that leads to anti-cancer agents.
  • Train new employees as well as other research staff on the techniques and instruments used in the laboratory.
  • Plan, organize and conduct experimental pharmacological studies on appropriate in-vitro and in-vivo systems.
  • Prepare complex analysis and written reports; organizing special committees, workshops, and other gatherings; develop and foster research activities.

Qualifications

Education Requirement:

In order to qualify for a Research Biologist, you must meet the following Occupational Requirement:

Have completed the requirements for a bachelor's (or graduate) degree in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, from an accredited college or university;

OR

Have a combination of experience and education which includes courses comparable to a major in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, AND have appropriate experience or additional education which demonstrates similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the duties of this position. In addition to meeting the Occupational Requirement, for a Research Biologist, GS-0401-13, you must meet the following Basic Qualification Requirement: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning and conducting research on investigational drugs as it relates to the in vivo assessment; serving as a project manager of various projects; developing novel research initiatives supporting the gaps in oncology drug development; preparing scientific reports, analytical interpretations, conclusions, and recommendations for publication; and providing guidance and training to others in the use of equipment and in the conduct of laboratory methods and procedures. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.

Pay Range

$117,191.00 - $152,352.00
