Job Summary
The scientist funded through this project will work with a team of ARS scientists, NRCS engineers, and local emergency and storm water managers to develop a pilot program to monitor and inspect approximately five dams within the Stillwater Watershed located immediately upstream of the City of Stillwater, Oklahoma. **ANNOUNCEMENT IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED OR March 5, 2021**
Major Duties
- Develop a pilot program to monitor and inspect approximately five dams within the Stillwater Creek Watershed.
- Collect data to develop a cloud based database network that can be used to update and expand Windows Dam Analysis Modules (WinDAM) or to be used by other dam monitoring applications like DamWatch.
- Improve threshold settings within these applications for alerting field engineers, watershed sponsors, and/or emergency and storm water managers about auxiliary spillway releases impacting downstream infrastructure.
Qualifications
This position requires a Ph.D in Civil or Agricultural Engineering or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of fluid mechanics, hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, computational modeling, GIS, LIDAR, and UAV technology are desirable. Applicants must meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Pay Range
$64,009.00 - $99,741.00
