Major Duties
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Deputy Superintendent, provides overall management of the Yellowstone Center for Resources at Yellowstone National Park. This is one of the most complex natural and cultural resources program in the National Park Service. This position provides oversight the division for resource management and stewardship which includes over 80 employees, an annual budget of over $10 million. Incumbent is responsible for leading, directing and coordinating the division staff that are involved in wide range of natural and cultural resources management and stewardship. The incumbent serves as an advisor to the Superintendent and is a member of the park's Senior Leadership Team.
Qualifications

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Biological Science Series, 0401
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Physical Science Series, 1301
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
or
Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
-AND- SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT - APPLIES TO ALL SERIES To qualify for this position, you must possess the following specialized experience by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Monitoring and evaluating resource management activities and communicating with the scientific community and other external organizations on resources issues. Planning and coordinating scientific research and developing an operating budget for a resource management program. Handling resource, visitor management, and scientific issues that are sensitive or controversial because of public opinion, political interest, or significance of environmental impacts. Providing oversight to a multi-disciplinary program that includes a majority of the following: vegetative resources, physiographic resources, geological resources, land use management, ethnography, anthropology, archeology, or history. This experience is documented on my resume and/or application materials. Developing and implementation of policy related to protection and conservation of park areas or similar operations. Directing program and work through direct and indirect supervision. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Pay Range
$104,821.00 - $136,271.00
