Job Summary

Major Duties

  • You will perform analyses of Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) documentation in support of acquisition milestones.
  • You will develop safety data packages for weapon systems and weapon delivery systems to support review by independent safety review authorities.
  • You will display system safety engineering requirements, principles, and precepts for rocket motors, warheads, projectiles, mines, countermeasures, other energetic systems and platforms that deploy weapons and energetic systems.
  • You will use analytical, evaluative, and problem solving techniques necessary to perform professional scientific/engineering work.
  • You will participate and assist in planning and coordinating individual and team assignments to meet project goals.
  • You will be asked to communicate effectively both orally and written.
  • You will use data analysis, interpretive techniques and methodologies of DoD weapon systems during design, development, test, operation, maintenance, in-service, and disposal.
  • You will prepare technical reports, plans, schedules and proposals, review reports prepared by others and present technical data regarding DoD weapon systems and platforms.
  • You will serve as a System Safety Engineer in the System Engineering Department, System Safety Division (E4)
  • You will provide mentoring and advisement to ensure program risks are identified, mitigated to the lowest levels, and accepted prior to introduction to the Fleet/Force.
  • You will execute system safety programs for weapons and weapon systems which include the ability to provide subject matter expertise to system safety personnel.

  • You will display skill in project management, organizing a team of individuals to include engineers/scientists/technicians
  • You will use engineering/scientific techniques, requirements, methods, and procedures in a specialty area.
  • You will coordinate system safety programs and resources for various weapon systems.
  • You will display skill in weapons system acquisition and support.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

TO QUALIFY FOR ND-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 pay band (GS-9 and GS-11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Execute immediate and accurate judgments for safety, environmental safety and occupational health programs to support the development of weapons system (i.e. underwater mines, rockets, missiles, etc.). TO QUALIFY FOR ND-03: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-02 pay band (GS-5 through GS-8 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Develops new procedures in order to obtain and analyze safety, environmental safety and occupational health programs data to support the development of weapons system (i.e. underwater mines, rockets, missiles, etc.). Pay Range

$53,901.00 - $133,465.00
