Job Summary
This position is in Region 6. The location will be determined after a selection has been made for this position; if selected, you must work at one of the locations stated in this announcement. About Region 6: Region 6 Website Salary will be based on the grade level for which you are selected and the duty location. One or more positions may be filled.
Major Duties
At the GS-03 level, you will:
- Perform or assist with basic aspects of field sampling or laboratory experiments.
- Receive training in the proper function and maintenance of laboratory/scientific equipment.
- Perform routine cleaning of glassware, utensils, equipment, field instruments, work areas, etc.
- Assist in the performance of other standardized support duties such as the collection of literature references and the organization of files.
At the GS-04 level, you will:
- Use simple instruments as well as some more sophisticated laboratory/scientific equipment.
- Carry out routine assignments involving such functions as interpreting data/results, making basic measurements, making instrument readings, conducting assigned field sampling tasks, etc.
- Receive training in the maintenance of laboratory/scientific equipment and assists in the maintenance of instruments for proper function.
- Assist in the performance of other standardized support duties such as the collection of literature references and the organization of files.
Qualifications
In addition to the eligibility requirements for the Pathways Internship Program, you must have educational achievements as described below to qualify for this position. The required education must lead to a bachelor's degree with specialization directly related to this position.To qualify for the GS-03 level, you need to have one full year of post-high school education.To qualify for the GS-04 level, you need to have two full years of post-high school education or associate’s degree.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range
$29,965.00 - $46,646.00
