Qualifications

Basic Education Requirement: For the Anthropologist GS-0190 series Appropriate field of anthropology. OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in an appropriate field of anthropology, or related course work, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR Four years of appropriate experience in anthropology performing research, museum work, or similar professional-level work For the General Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences GS-401 series Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. For the Fish Biologist GS-482 series Degree: major in biological science that included: At least 6 semester hours in aquatic subjects such as limnology, ichthyology, fishery biology, aquatic botany, aquatic fauna, oceanography, fish culture, or related courses in the field of fishery biology; and at least 12 semester hours in the animal sciences in such subjects as general zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, entomology, parasitology, ecology, cellular biology, genetics, or research in these fields. (Excess course work in aquatic subjects may be used to meet this requirement when appropriate.) OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), of which a minimum of 6 semester hours were in aquatic subjects and 12 semester hours were in the animal sciences, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. For the Wildlife Biologist GS-486 series Degree: biological science that included: At least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and At least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (Excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where appropriate.); and At least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences. OR Combination of education and experience -- equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Specialized Experience Requirements: In addition to the basic education requirement, in order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement -please be sure to include this information in your resume. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To be creditable, this experience must have been for 1 year and equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. (If the position was seasonal, your resume must show periods worked. You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your experience in: Working with interagency groups or Alaska Native/Native American organizations on subsistence issues affecting rural communities; Implementing and communicating the complexities of the subsistence provisions of ANILCA; Using biological, cultural and socio-economic information in subsistence management decision making processes; Coordinating and preparing reports that are used for decisions on management of subsistence hunting, fishing and gathering activities on Federal lands; and Working with subsistence management in rural areas, including knowledge of laws and regulations directing the management of fish and wildlife on federal and state lands.

Pay Range

$102,026.00 - $132,637.00
