Major Duties

  • Provide oversight and direction to staff members on biological research matters
  • Make certain that the assigned research conducted is within parameters needed for support of regulatory programs.
  • Provide managerial direction for studies related to food safety.
  • Participate fully with the Division Director in planning and directing activities as follows: organizational structuring of functional responsibilities; and, provide leadership in the management of a laboratory environment.
  • Participate and contribute to meetings/conferences with senior mgmt. and top level Ctr. officials to discuss and explain Ctr. policies/plans/programs/ operations/decisions related to biological and regulatory activities and Evidentiary Hearings.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

In order be eligible for the position of Supervisory Biologist (Branch Chief), (GS-0401-15), you must meet the following requirements. BASIC REQUIREMENT:

A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service:

1. Detecting and identifying foodborne pathogens AND

2. Making oral presentation to upper management or the public. AND

3. Conducting studies related to food safety methods. AND

Pay Range

$106,595.00 - $138,572.00
