Job Summary

This permanent position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Directorate of Military Programs, located in Washington, D.C. This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Additionally, this is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP) in the Defense Acquisition Workforce. Defense Acquisition Workforce Positions are governed by Ch. 87 of 10 U.S.C., DoDI 5000.66, and other DoD requirements and guidance that can be found at https://asc.army.mil.

MajorDuties

  • Manage all aspects of various environmental support construction activities, including site investigations, remedial design and action phases.
  • Ensure all environmental support construction missions are accomplished in accordance with congressional, DoD, and Army policies, and accepted engineering, environmental principles and practices.
  • Supervise a team comprised of engineers, environmental specialists, and administrative support personnel.
  • Furnish environmental and engineering guidance on major problems related to policies, projects or overall program planning.
  • Review work assignments of team members to determine completion of various environmental support construction objectives.

A. Degree: Bachelor's (or higher) degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Ecologist:

Degree: Bachelor's (or higher) degree in biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester hours in ecology, and 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences. A. Degree: Bachelor's (or higher) degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Chemist:

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in the physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Course work equivalent to a major in the physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Geologist:

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (Note: Acceptable experience may have been gained through geological field or laboratory work that provided a means of obtaining professional knowledge of the theory and application of the principles of geology and closely related sciences, e.g., geophysics, geochemistry, or hydrology. Such work generally must have involved making close observations, taking samples, handling various types of instruments and equipment, assembling geologic data from source materials, and analyzing and reporting findings orally and in writing. In some situations, professional scientific experience in other fields may be accepted in part as professional geological experience. Such experience must have been preceded by appropriate education in geology or by professional geological experience, and must have contributed directly and significantly to the applicant's professional geological competence. To receive credit for geological experience obtained in positions that are not full-time professional geological positions, the applicant is responsible for indicating clearly the actual time or percentage of time devoted to geologic duties within such positions, and for giving adequate descriptions of the geologic functions). In addition to meeting one of the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the below experience requirements: Specialized Experience Requirement: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the General Schedule (GS) 14 Grade Level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Manage a wide variety of environmental support programs; Develop environmental support procedures regarding investigations, design, remediation, and compliance; Resolve areas of conflict among multiple stakeholders regarding regulatory and/or statutory provisions, objectives, scope of design and remediation, and other special environmental support needs; Assist with overseeing and leading the completion of environmental support team projects. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$142,701.00 - $170,800.00
