Job Summary

serves as the Area Engineer and Administrative Contracting Officer (ACO) with direct responsibility for establishing Area Office mission goals within District guidelines, and the overall management of the Area office. Directs the full range of field and office engineering functions, delegating responsibilities for Resident Office management, contract administration, quality assurance, and budget monitoring to subordinates within the organization.

Major Duties

  • Give advice, counsel, instruction to individual employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Make decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors.
  • Ensure timely performance of a satisfactory amount and quality of work.
  • Issue administrative contract changes and performance periods within the scope of work.
  • Review, evaluate and monitor actions of field supervisors exercising administrative authorities.
  • Conduct or participate in meetings and conferences on controversial issues surrounding construction activities within the Area Office.
  • Make selections for non supervisory positions.
  • Recommend and approve awards.
  • Evaluate performance of subordinates and determines training needs.
  • Interview applicants and select or recommend selection to fill vacant positions.
  • Resolve complaints and disciplinary problems and recommend disciplinary action.

This position requires a current, active, valid Professional Registration license as a Engineer or Architect in a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States. (You must attach a copy of your Professional Registration license as Engineer or Architect) Specialized Experience:

1. Advise on civil works and/or military construction as a project engineer directly involved with construction management and application of professional engineering or registered architect disciplines. 2. Applies new methods and use sound professional judgment to solve novel or obscure problems. 3. Develops new approaches associated with management of construction programs, application of a broad range of environmental principles in accomplishing the construction mission, and over site of contracting procedures and associated laws & regulations. 4. Supports and manages technical activities and quality of an engineering and architectural design services for a broad range of federal projects and programs in civil works and/or military construction. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$108,736.00 - $141,360.00
