Job Summary
The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers' Vicksburg District is one of 41 Army Corps districts worldwide and one of six districts in the Corps' Mississippi Valley Division (MVD). The Vicksburg District provides quality engineering and other professional products and services to develop and manage the Nation's water resources needs in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner. Our coverage spans 68,000 square miles in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Major Duties
- Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating work involved in development of plans for the conservation or preservation of environmental fish and wildlife, forest, and cultural resources.
- Works closely with other organizational elements of the district in the exchange and mutual use of water resources.
- Serves as a first-level supervisor coordinating technical work comparable to the GS-11 and GS-12 grade levels.
- Prepares special technical reports and information as required by higher authority.
- Provide oversight in the preparation of environmental assessments and environmental impact statements.

GS 13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level which includes experience 1) Planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, controlling, and reviewing the formulation and development of both long-range and short-range project plans AND; 2) Conducting environmental and/or cultural resources analyses AND: 3) Preparing environmental assessments and impact statements on existing and proposed Civil Works projects. The work described is typical of work being done at the lower grade of GS-12. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Qualification requirement: Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Time-In-Grade requirement must be met no later than 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) Position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade GS-12 (or equivalent). With regards to time-in-grade validation, if you held a position other than a GS pay plan, be sure your resume includes the pay plan and the salary you earned during the assignment. Without this information, your time-in-grade validation may not be able to be verified and will result in your not meeting the time-grade requirement for this vacancy. Pay Range
$91,231.00 - $118,603.00
