Job Summary

You will serve as the Deputy Technical Director in the Technical Directorate Office of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER. This interdisciplinary position will be filled as either Supervisory General Engineer (0801) or Supervisory Physical Scientist (1301).

Major Duties

  • You will provide technical execution oversight in applied research, technology development, and product development.
  • You will represent the Command in connection with complex problems requiring Science and Engineering expertise by working with top representatives from other services and other U.S. government agencies, as well as international partners.
  • You will manage, supervise, and oversee a staff of senior level engineers and scientists as well as various support personnel.
  • You will approve multiyear work plans developed by the supervisors or managers of subordinate organizational units and subsequently manage the overall work to enhance achievement of goals and objectives.
  • You will serve as a Technical Manager and Supervisor administering a major engineering and scientific competency areas having national or international impact within the organization's mission and vision.
  • You will plan and prepare comprehensive program plans (cost, deliverables, schedules, budgets, forecasts, etc.) for the execution of multifaceted projects.
  • You will carry out technical managerial responsibilities involving technical planning and oversight of work accomplished through Federal civil service employees, assigned military members, and/or others to include, contractors, volunteers, etc.

Qualifications

This position has a selective placement factor for the General Engineer (0801 series) that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your current license your application package. In addition to the Basic Requirement and selective placement factor (if applying for the 0801 series), your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serving as an authority in identifying, defining, and resolving critical problems and challenges in programs for applied research, technology development, and product development; 2) Exhibiting mastery in applying facilities and expeditionary engineering and technology concepts to execute short and long-range strategic programs; 3) Ensuring proper resourcing and execution of plans, programs, and budgets to meet technical engineering and science program requirements; 4) Working with others to create and implement strategic planning, workforce shaping, and transformation plans for science, technology, research, development, and experimental development programs; and 5) Leading, guiding, and/or supervising various professionals in providing the highest quality science and technology development products and services. Pay Range

$144,812.00 - $170,800.00
