Job Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INTERDISCIPLINARY OCEANOGRAPHER/ PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Survey Planning Division (N32), Operations Department (N3), Naval Oceanographic Office of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Major Duties

  • You will travel as Senior NAVOCEANO Representative (SNR) on survey platforms.
  • You will Coordinate scientific and technical data collection activities across Department lines.
  • You will provide formal technical and administrative guidance to the Detachment.
  • You will ensure that NAVOCEANO policies, instructions, and regulations are adhered to by the survey detachments.
  • You will be responsible for selection, disciplinary actions and other conclusive personnel actions involving Division personnel.
  • You will be responsible for carrying out EEO policies and communicating support of the these policies to subordinates.
  • You will allocate survey resources to best address multi-discipline requirements insuring sound management of survey collection platforms and personnel

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Experience in the mastery of advance concepts, theories, principles and practices of physical oceanography, physics, mathematics, acoustics or other physical sciences.

Technical expert for survey operations, coordinating scientific and technical data, preparation of survey plans, concept of operations, and operational specification for multi-purpose surveys.

Experience managing technical programs and/or the ability to resolve technical problems to ensure the timely and successful completion of programs.

Experience providing selection, disciplinary actions and/or other conclusive personnel actions involving division personnel (e.g. EEO, grievances, proposing suspensions, removals, selections/recommendations for non-supervisory vacancies, training needs).

Experience being the primary Point of Contact (POC) for all platforms from problems of a scheduling, technical or staffing nature. (e.g. scheduling assignments, travel arrangements, adequate resources, formal/informal briefs and/or debriefs, developing guidance and training). Pay Range

$88,704.00 - $115,313.00
