Job Summary

This position is with the Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Compliance at Joint Base Lewis Mc-Chord, WA. The Public Works Directorate leads the industry in providing exceptional infrastructure, resource, and facility management services. Major Duties

  • Serves as the Environmental Compliance Branch Chief within the Environmental Division, Public Works. Responsible for the supervision of program implementation designed to achieve, maintain, or exceed compliance with federal, state and local pollution controls, laws and regulations and a variety of environmental programs including Fuels and Underground Storage Tank (UST) Program, Asbestos Management, Radon Management, the Clean Air Program, the Clean Water Program, Safe Drinking Water, Storm water Program, Wastewater Pretreatment Program, Installation Restoration Program (IRP), Audits and Inspections Program, and the Environmental Documentation Program (NEPA).
  • Incorporate legal requirements into installation and sub-installation policy in the form of local regulations and policy letters. Modify and update local policy in consultation with the Division Chief.
  • Responsible for compliance with environmental legal requirements. Oversees implementation of pollution control programs for all environmental media in the branch.
  • Conduct supervisory duties. Prepare performance standards and appraisals. Keep employees informed of management goals and objectives and higher level supervisors informed of employee concerns. Initiate requests to fill positions; recommend employees for promotion, reassignment, outstanding performance awards, and other personnel actions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. BASIC REQUIREMENT:

A. Degree: Bachelor degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Minimum Qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: responsibility for administering and maintaining compliance for one or more environmental programs for an assigned organization covering programs such as National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Water Wastewater and Stormwater, Toxic Substance Control Act, Installation Restoration and Remediation, or other hazardous clean-up; and utilization of automated environmental systems to maintain data. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$76,687.00 - $99,691.00
