Job Summary
This Direct-Hire position is in the Food and Drug Administration, National Center for Toxicological Research, Office of Research, Division of Neuro-toxicology (DNT), Jefferson, Arkansas. DNT serves a muti-purpose function utilizing specialized expertise to perform fundamental and applied research into aspects of neuro-toxicity associated with FDA regulated products.
Major Duties
- Responsible for providing administrative direction and scientific guidance to scientists in the Division, including staff fellows, visiting scientists, and post-doctoral fellows.
- Principal investigator and research study director, who leads studies where the focal endpoints are histological and translational imaging approaches.
- Develop long-range research plans and goals, evaluates specific research proposals, and identifies budget and facility needs to support the FDA?s research needs.
- Interact with a multi-disciplinary research program the NCTR and with colleagues throughout the Agency in support of the FDA?s mission.
- Responsible for large scale collaboration within and across the FDA.
- Respond to the needs and requests of the Division, NCTR, and independent editorial boards, and other government agencies for review of manuscripts, technical reports, and protocols.
- Thoroughly knowledgeable in a variety of sophisticated neurochemical, neuropathological, and neurobehavioral techniques.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
In order be qualified for the position of Supervisory Research Biologist, (GS-0401-15), you must meet the Basic Requirement AND Specialized Experience as follows: BASIC REQUIREMENT:
A. Have a four year degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (You must submit your transcript(s) that demonstrates this coursework at time of application submission)

Have a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (You must submit your transcript(s) that demonstrates this coursework at time of application submission) In addition to meeting either of the Basic Requirements stated above, applicants must also have the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the next lower grade of GS-14 or equivalent band level of responsibility in the Federal service managing/providing leadership to a staff in the areas of administrative and technical guidance; managing and/or leading scientific research programs related to behavioral, pharmacological, histochemical and/or toxicological studies. Pay Range
$126,810.00 - $164,858.00
