Major Duties

As a SUPV ENVIRONMMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST at the NH-0028-4 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as the Division Chief for the Facilities and Deployments (FD) Environmental Management Division (FDOE). Performs as the technical authority with responsibility for managing, directing, and controlling the efforts of research and investigations for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
  • Overseeing the planning and scheduling of the development of environmental policy and procedures; compliance with U.S. and DoD environmental regulations; providing professional environmental and managerial advice and guidance; and coordinating/conducting environmental reviews and analysis determining environmental impact of system objectives, and recommending solutions to environmental problems.
  • Manages plans and coordinates efforts required to interface environmental requirements with production, facility, testing, deployment, and associated contract actions. Coordinates systems integration and/or other missions with contractors, other services and other government agencies.
  • Responsible for work performed that involves knowledge and application of the principles of natural resource programs as they apply to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Primarily focuses on NEPA laws, policies, procedures, and processes at all levels.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH -04 , if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-13 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: At least one (I) year of supervisory experience in managing and integrating the efforts of multi-disciplined Government/contractor environmental teams, multiple internal and external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies supporting statutory and regulatory Federal, state, local and international agreements environmental compliance. Efforts include National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and EO 12114 compliance, environmental permitting, and special studies for weapon systems test, deployment and sustainment at worldwide US and Host Nation installations. The applicant must also have a broad understanding of agency-level Environmental Management Systems and Environmental Management Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Pay Range

$108,002.00 - $165,150.00
