Job Summary

This position is located in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, Operations Division, Technical Support Branch, Survey Section, Atlantic City Survey Team in Atlantic City, PA. This position is being filled at the GS-10 level and the selectee may be non-competitively promoted to the target grade level (GS-11).

Major Duties

  • You will perform hydrographic and typographic surveys to support navigation, engineering, coastal, environmental, planning, and a wide range of other missions.
  • Maintain and operate the survey section's Real Time Network (RTN) by ensuring that continuously operating reference stations (CORS) are streaming global navigation satellite system (GNSS) data into cloud based servers.
  • Monitor and ensure the integrity of the network solutions. Adjust base station coordinates at each site applying the current National Spatial Reference System coordinates and elevation values.
  • Plan and direct field data collection efforts taking into account weather conditions, predicted tides, and general characteristics of the seafloor to include bars, shoals, and the surf zone to ensure safety and integrity of collected data.
  • Perform coastal topographic surveying utilizing GNSS receivers, laser scanners, conventional total stations, and other specialized equipment.
  • Perform annual beach monitoring hydrographic surveys to ensure overlapping coverage with coastal topographic surveys (wading surveys).
  • Operate government vehicles including cars and medium to heavy duty trucks to include towing trailerable vessels and other assets. Operate small vessels less than 26' in length, including a waverunner, to perform surveys.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed equivalent to the next lower grade in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$61,363.00 - $79,767.00
