DOI -- The Department of the Interior issued a final rule that amends the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) oil and gas resources regulations. NOAA - The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a notice to adopt modified tidal datums in areas of anomalous relative sea-level trends using a 5 year time period for determination of tide level datums. Previously the tidal datums were updated every 20-25 years. The National Ocean Service recognized the need to collect accurate information for areas with high rates of relative sea level change. NASA - The National Aeronautics and Space Administration will hold a meeting of the Planetary Protection Subcommittee of the NASA Advisory Council. EPA - The Environmental Protection Agency issued a notice of the adjusted penalty amounts for excess emissions for sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide of fossil- fuel fired utility units. The penalties fall under the Acid Rain Program within the Clean Air Act. The EPA released that the penalty in 2014 for excess sulfur and nitrogen oxides is $3,754 per excess ton. NOAA - The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will hold a National Climate Assessment and Development Advisory Committee meeting on November 18, 2013 at 3:15 pm.
