ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to welcome the International Association for Geoscience Diversity (IAGD) as an AGI Member Society and the University Consortium of Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) as an AGI Liaison Organization.

Formerly an AGI International Associate and now a voting member of the AGI Member Society Council, the IAGD is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access and inclusion for people with disabilities in the geosciences.

New to the AGI Federation, UCGIS is a nonprofit organization that creates and supports communities of practice for geographic information system science research, education, and policy endeavors in higher education and with allied institutions.

"We are excited to welcome the IAGD and USGIS into AGI's federation of geoscience societies," says AGI Executive Director Jonathan Arthur. "By expanding and strengthening our network of leading geoscience organizations, we increase opportunities for partnership and collaboration to better serve the wider community of geoscience professionals and the geoscience-related needs of society."
