Status of the Geoscience Workforce

The Status of the Geoscience Workforce is a comprehensive benchmark of the geoscience profession that provides analysis of the education and training of new geoscientists, employment trends in the geoscience workforce, trends in federal funding of the geosciences and economic trends of the major geoscience industries. Data sources include original data collected by AGI and existing data from governement, industry, and professional membership organization.

Project deliverables include a biennial report and rapid-response data briefs that are disseminated through AGI's Geoscience Currents channel.

Geoscience Currents transmit snapshots of the many facets of the geoscience profession, in-depth case studies of how geoscience is applied, factsheets that provide rigorous introductions to a range of geoscience topics, workforce trends, and career paths.

Status of the Geoscience Workforce Reports
Released every two years, these reports provide the entire suite of data analysis of all aspects of the geoscience profession, from the K-12 environment through university education, industry activities, and economic metrics.
