Student opportunity: Apply for scholarships from Society of Exploration Geophysicists!

The following message was sent by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists:
During the 2018-2019 school year, the SEG Scholarships program awarded 122 scholarships to dedicated students studying geosciences at various universities around the world.
 
Our scholarships range from $500 to $10,000 USD per academic year, averaging about $3,700 per scholarship. The number of available scholarships depends chiefly upon the number of sponsors and the amount they contribute each year.
 

SME Scholarship Season Opens

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), announced that it is accepting applications for the 2016 scholarship season through October 15, 2016. SME scholarships are available to SME student members who seek a career in the mining and minerals industries. This year more than $425,000 in scholarships will be awarded by SME Divisions, the SME Foundation, the Women’s Auxiliary to AIME (WAAIME), and the Underground Construction Association of SME (UCA of SME). Additionally, several memorial scholarships have been created to honor Society luminaries and their contributions to the industry. 

DCO Diversity Grants

Deep Carbon Observatory Diversity Engagement

AGI received funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to bolster participation of traditionally underrepresented geoscientists within the Deep Carbon Observatory (DCO) community.  AGI worked on behalf of DCO to engage and actively recruit geoscientists from underrepresented groups to participate in DCO research and activities.  AGI is proud to annouce the 2016 DCO Diversity Grant recipients!

Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship Application Information Page

The Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship is available to all women pursuing a Master's or Doctoral degree in the geosciences at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education in a recognized geoscience program. Successful applicants will be thesis-based, full time students and due to the nature of the position, each applicant must either be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. If selected, the new Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholar will be subject to verification of U.S. citizenship or residency status.

AGI Scholarship Programs

The American Geosciences Institute has a limited number of scholarship programs that are directly offered.  All AGI-related scholarships are restricted to U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents who are declared majors in recognized geoscience programs in the United States.

AGI Announces First Recipient of the Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship for Women in Geoscience

Congratulations to Kelly M. Deuerling, the first recipient of AGI's new Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship for women in geoscience. Given annually in honor of Harriet Evelyn Wallace, a founding member of the Geoscience Information Society (GSIS), a national organization and AGI member society that facilitates the exchange of information in the geosciences, the new Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship is awarded to a female student pursuing a thesis-based Master's or Doctoral degree in the Earth sciences.
