chervetite (cher-ve'-tite). A colorless or yellow monoclinic mineral: Pb2V5+2O7 .

hinge node . A localized thickened part of the hinge of the right valve of phyllocarid crustaceans, serving to strengthen the hinge.

olivine pyroxenite . In the IUGS classification, a plutonic rock with M equal to or greater than 90, ol/(ol+hbl+px) between 5 and 40, hbl/(ol+hbl+px) less than 5, and px/(ol+hbl+px) less than 90.

gallobeudantite . A pale yellow, greenish, or creamy rhombohedral mineral of the beudantite group: Pb(Ga,Al,Fe)3(AsO4,SO4)2(OH)6.

Blondeau method (Blon-deau'). A seismic method of determining vertical time to a predetermined depth based on first-break data and the assumption that the instantaneous velocity is proportional to a power of the depth.

leucophoenicite (leu-co-phoe'-ni-cite). A brown, red, or pink monoclinic mineral: Mn2+7(SiO4)3(OH)2 .

negative element . A large structural feature or portion of the Earth's crust, characterized through a long period of geologic time by frequent and conspicuous downward movement (subsidence, submergence) or by extensive erosion, or by an uplift that is considerably less rapid or less frequent than those of adjacent positive elements. Syn: negative area.

drainage divide . The boundary between adjacent drainage basins; a divide.

orthogonal joint sets . Two sets of systematic joints that have propagated at right angles. They may not crosscut. Abutting relationships and joint surface morphology are often useful for sorting out the sequence of joint propagation.

natroniobite (na''-tro-ni-o'-bite). A yellowish, brownish, or blackish monoclinic mineral: NaNbO3 . It is dimorphous with lueshite.
