Volcano Disaster Assistance Program Celebrates 30 Years

On August 6th, 2016 The Volcano Disaster Assistance Program (VDAP) celebrated its 30th. It is a program that is run by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the USGS. To mark this milestone a new fact sheet has been published and they are "highlighting some of the major responses that demonstrate how VDAP has helped save tens of thousands of lives over the past 30 years." The USGS article on VDAP's history they also noted that this program is up for one of America's most prestigious awards, the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal. Readers are encouraged to vote for John Pallister and the VDAP team.
