Rice Paddies in Northern Thailand at Sunset.
Hydrologic techniques were imported to Mekong River region Thailand from Emporia, Kansas, as part of a Fulbright Award to Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) board member and Emporia State University, Dr. Marcia Schulmeister. Thailand is currently suffering from drought so Schulmeister looked at sustainable water storage, studied naturally occurring artisanal springs, and hosted a small conference on direct-push technologies.
