2017 Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship Winners Announced

The American Geosciences Institute congratulates Master's student Clarice Perryman and Ph.D. student Zena Cardman as the 2017 recipients of the Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship. The scholarship, which is awarded to women pursuing graduate degrees in geoscience, disburses a $5,000 award for one academic year. Wallace Scholars who are continuing their graduate studies are eligible to apply for the award a second time.

The Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship 2017 application cycle has opened. The Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship was established from a bequest given to AGI by Harriet Evelyn Wallace, who was one of the founding members of the Geoscience Information Society (GSIS). This scholarship is for the support of female graduate students in the United States studying the geosciences.

Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship Application Information Page

The Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship is available to all women pursuing a Master's or Doctoral degree in the geosciences at an accredited U.S. institution of higher education in a recognized geoscience program. Successful applicants will be thesis-based, full time students and due to the nature of the position, each applicant must either be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. If selected, the new Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholar will be subject to verification of U.S. citizenship or residency status.

Wallace scholarship for women geoscientists awardees announced

The American Geosciences Institute congratulates the latest recipients of the Wallace Scholarship for women in geoscience. The newest awardee is Penn State doctoral candidate Elizabeth Denis and 2013 awardee, University of Florida doctoral candidate Kelly Deuerling, has received a second year of funding in a re-compete application.

The Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship was established from a bequest given to AGI by Harriet Evelyn Wallace, who was one of the founding members of the Geoscience Information Society (GSIS).  This scholarship is for the support of female graduate students in the United States studying the geosciences.  Each year, we receive applications and name one Master's student and one PhD candidate a $5,000 scholarship.

Congratulations to Kelly M. Deuerling, the first recipient of AGI's new Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship for women in geoscience. Given annually in honor of Harriet Evelyn Wallace, a founding member of the Geoscience Information Society (GSIS), a national organization and AGI member society that facilitates the exchange of information in the geosciences, the new Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship is awarded to a female student pursuing a thesis-based Master's or Doctoral degree in the Earth sciences.

The American Geosciences Institute's New Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship for Women

The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is accepting applications for the new Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year. The scholarship will be awarded to a thesis-based, full time female student pursuing either a Master's or a Doctoral degree in the geosciences, and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship is merit-based, and applicants will be evaluated on the probability of successfully completing their geoscience graduate program and transitioning into the geoscience workforce following graduation.
