AAPG: 2017 Imperial Barrel Award Competition Updates

College/University geoscience programs still have time to apply to participate in the 2017 Imperial Barrel Award (IBA). This is a competition hosted by American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and "is an annual prospective basin evaluation competition for geoscience graduate students from universities around the world.

AAG: Still Seeking Support for GIS&T AP Course

The American Association of Geographers is still seeking letters of attestation for a new Advanced Placement course in Geographic Information Science & Technology (GIS&T) from high schools and colleges/universities. They currently have 78/100 letters from colleges/universities and 73/250 from high schools. Please direct this information to all interested parties on AAG's behalf.

The official contest period for 2017 Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) is now open. The IBA competition is an annual prospective basin evaluation competition for geoscience graduate students from universities around the world. SME Scholarship Season Opens

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), announced that it is accepting applications for the 2016 scholarship season through October 15, 2016. SME scholarships are available to SME student members who seek a career in the mining and minerals industries. This year more than $425,000 in scholarships will be awarded by SME Divisions, the SME Foundation, the Women’s Auxiliary to AIME (WAAIME), and the Underground Construction Association of SME (UCA of SME). Additionally, several memorial scholarships have been created to honor Society luminaries and their contributions to the industry.
