Member Societies Services

Communications and member outreach efforts serve as the liaison between AGI, its member societies, and the public. We are constantly seeking new ways to improve member services through targeted press releases, our quarterly newsletter, and the annual leadership forum. Communication and member outreach efforts are focused on identifying and facilitating collaboration among societies to promote new areas of growth and emerging areas of concern.

AGI Releases the New 2012 Critical Needs Document

With less than two months before Election Day, AGI and its federation of 50 professional geoscience societies have come together again to provide a list of critical issues and policy recommendations for the next presidential administration. The document, Critical Needs for the Twenty-first Century: the Role of the Geosciences, is meant to inform policymakers of the unique knowledge, experience, and ingenuity of the geoscience community, and to address some of society's most pressing issues.

AGI Examines Geoscience Students' Society Membership Choices

The American Geosciences Institute has released a new Geoscience Currents that examines the choices by geoscience students when provided up to five free memberships in geoscience societies. Data from 2009-2011 is presented showing trends in student preferences and/or influences from advisors. AGI's Geoscience Currents provide snapshots of helpful data regarding current trends and the status of the geoscience discipline.
