EPA – The Environmental Protection Agency is seeking comments to address changes to the federal water quality standards, which help implement the Clean Water Act. [Wednesday, September 4, 2013, (Vol. 78, No. 171)]

EPA—The Environmental Protection Agency announced they will hold a meeting of the Ozone Transport Commission and the Mid-Atlantic Northeast Visibility Union to address reducing ground-level ozone precursors and matters relative to regional haze and visibility improvement. NASA -- National Aeronautics and Space Administration invites public nominations for service on NASA Federal advisory committees. The NASA Advisory Council provides advice to the NASA Administrator on Agency programs, policies, plans, financial controls, and other matters pertinent to the Agency's responsibilities. EPA – The Environmental Protection Agency’s Hydraulic Fracturing Research Advisory Panel will hold a teleconference regarding hydraulic fracturing and drinking water resources. The teleconference is open to the public and the Hydraulic Fracturing Research Advisory Panel asks for oral and written comments from the public. The teleconference will be held on November 20, 2013, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. [Tuesday, September 10, 2013, (Vol. 78, No. 175)]

NASA -- National Aeronautics and Space Administration issued a statement of their intent to prepare an environmental impact statement for the Mars 2020 mission. NASA is seeking input on environmental issues and concerns associated with the proposed mission. “The mission would be designed to seek signs of past life on Mars, collect and store a compelling set of soil and rock samples that could be returned to Earth in the future, and test new technology to benefit future robotic and human exploration of Mars.” Comments should be directed to Mr. George Tahu. NASA – The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel will hold its Fourth Quarterly Meeting for 2013 on October 11, 2013. The meeting will be open to the public on a first-come basis. [Monday, September 16, 2013, (Vol. 78, No. 179)]

NOAA -- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climate Assessment and Development Advisory Committee will hold a meeting on October 1, 2013. The meeting will address the draft Climate Assessment Report and will be open to public on a first-come basis with a public comment period. [Monday, September 16, 2013, (Vol. 78, No. 179)]

NSF – The National Science Foundation will host a meeting of its Advisory Committee for Geosciences on Oct 9 & 10 in Arlington, VA. The purpose of the meeting is to “provide advice, recommendations, and oversight on support for geoscience research and education including atmospheric, geo-space, earth, ocean and polar sciences” and is open to the public. NASA – The National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced it will hold a meeting of the Applied Sciences Advisory Committee on October 8 & 9. DOD – The Department of Defense will hold an Ocean Research Advisory Panel meeting on October 7, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. which will be open to the public. [Wednesday, September 18, 2013, (Vol. 78, No. 181)]

FEMA – Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a notice that lists communities where there are changes in flood hazard determinations. The modifications are made in compliance with the Flood Disaster Protection Act. Comments are requested on proposed flood hazard determinations. [Thursday, September 19, 2013, (Vol. 78, No. 182)]

DOI – The Department of the Interior will hold an audio conference for the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program (NCGMP) and National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) Advisory Committee on October 31, 2013 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Mountain Standard Time. DOI – The Department of the Interior will administer a survey through the National Park Survey to gauge public understanding of climate change. As part of the Climate Change Action Plan, the National Park Service will promote resources and public understand of how climate change will affect the National Parks. EPA – The Environmental Protection Agency will hold a meeting for the proposed rule “Water Quality Standards Regulatory Clarifications.” The meeting will be held Oct. 23, 2013 at 10:00 am – 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time in Washington, D.C. EPA – The Environmental Protection Agency announced they will hold a public meeting to review the draft report, Connectivity of Streams and Wetlands to Downstream Waters: A Review and Synthesis of the Scientific Evidence on Dec. 16-18, in Washington, D.C. NSF – The National Science Foundation Synchrotron Subcommittee of the Advisory Committee for Mathematical and Physical Sciences is hosting a Synchrotron Subcommittee Workshop on Oct. 8-9 in Arlington, VA. [Tuesday, September 24, 2013, (Vol. 78, No. 185)]

DOI – The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has extended the comment period on the production safety systems proposed rule. The period is open until December 5, 2013. The proposed rule addresses safety and pollution prevention equipment lifecycle analysis, production safety systems, subsurface safety devices, and safety device testing for oil and natural gas production. BLM – The Bureau of Land Management's will hold a National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska oil and gas lease sale bid opening for tracts in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska. The bidding period will open 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. [Monday, September 30, 2013, (Vol. 78, No. 189)]

NASA – The National Aeronautics and Space Administration opened registration for the 2014 Unmanned Aircraft Systems Airspace Operations Challenge. The Challenge encourages development of new technologies or application of existing technology to stimulate innovation in technologies of interest and value to NASA.
