On August 7, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy announced the names of several new acting officials to fill vacancies in the agency’s administration. President Obama has nominated six officials, but the positions remain open while these individuals await hearings in the slow confirmation process.

Current EPA Deputy Associate Administrator Lisa Feldt will take over as Acting Deputy Administrator, replacing Bob Perciasepe. Ms. Feldt previously worked in the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, as well as the Department of Energy.

Nanci Gelb will move up from her post as Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Administration and Resources Management to become Acting Administrator. David Bloom will step into the role of Acting Chief Financial Officer to fill the position while Victoria Wassmer’s nomination waits on Senate action.  Ken Kopocis, who is awaiting Senate confirmation to head the water program, will be Deputy Assistant Administrator for the EPA Office of Water.
