Interactive map of surface water quality in North Dakota

The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality provides information about surface water quality across the state in interactive map form. The map includes:

  • Detailed water quality data for lakes, rivers, and reservoirs
  • Water quality impairment status for lakes, reservoirs, rivers, and streams
  • Detailed hydrology for the state, including all surface water bodies and surficial aquifers

Additional map layers include information on administrative boundaries and the state's air, rail, and road transportation networks.

Interactive map of groundwater quality in Idaho

The Idaho Bureau of Laboratories has produced an interactive map of groundwater quality for nine major contaminants across the state. Map layers are available for arsenic, chloride, copper, fluoride, iron, manganese, selenium, sulfate, and total nitrate.

Contaminant concentrations are provided for a variety of well depths, and maximum level guidelines from the EPA are provided, along with potential health effects from long-term exposure above these levels. Additional resources are also provided for further information on each contaminant.

Interactive maps of global climate information

NOAA View is a data exploration tool produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and developed by the NOAA Environmental Visualization Laboratory. It contains an enormous amount of information relevant to global geoscience issues in interactive map form. Over 100 different datasets are available on a wide range of topics related to the Earth system. Datasets include:
